I’ve dreaded sharing this news, partly due to the threat of insensitive and/or negative comments, combined simply with the general anxiety of it all, I am also exhausted, but I’ve left comments on.

So, 3 weeks ago I had significant open abdominal surgery for a inguinal hernia that was close to an emergency.

I am still in shock from the process, and as someone with diagnosed Autism and C-PTSD, open surgery is absolutely debilitating, not that it is easier for anyone of course.

I had a huge hernia, and for it to be repaired, I had to endure a 6 inch incision in my groin.

This unfortunately was not keyhole surgery.

I have a very weak abdominal wall, which at being 57 yrs old this year, is not going to improve.

If I continue to perform and shout/scream as I do with Godflesh, then I am at high risk for more hernias, and blowing out my abdominal wall entirely.

Godflesh live ended the day of my surgery, and upon the surgeon making this statement.

I am now just about walking freely, but with little pace, albeit extremely carefully.

The full healing process is approximately 6 months.

Fortunately, my other projects do not require screaming/shouting nor a physically demanding performance; jesu and JK FLESH shows remain.

I have been mixing, what will be the penultimate GODFLESH album - ‘DECAY’, for release on Relapse in hopefully July/Aug, mixes are being completed imminently.

The album is basically done.

I’ve had the final GODFLESH studio album written, for almost a year and half now, that will be recorded and completed late 2026.

After that there will continue to be GODFLESH dub albums, live albums, and so on, but no new studio releases nor performances.

In the near future, a new solo project will emerge, further exploring the parameters of heavy/ugly music, featuring my guitars and electronics, and of course vocals, but NOT shouted vocals!

Regarding GODFLESH in Athens, Gr, please contact the promotion for details, etc. There will be an official announcement via my agency/management regarding this ASAP.

Thank you for your understanding.

Take care out there.

Justin

“[It] came up on a Spotify playlist, and I thought the lyrics were gross and transphobic,” he said. “I like their early music, but I was really taken aback at how unevolved the lyrics are.”

E conclude con “But I know what I am and I’m glad I’m a man, and so is Lola” porca troia :asd:

Summary

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like coca cola
C-O-L-A, Cola

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola
L-O-L-A, Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well, I’m not the world’s most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well, I’m not dumb but I can’t understand
Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man
Oh my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well, we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said “Dear boy, won’t you come home with me?”

Well, I’m not the world’s most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes, well I almost fell for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

Well, that’s the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It’s a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world, except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well, I left home just a week before
And I’d never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said “Dear boy, I’m gonna make you a man”

Well, I’m not the world’s most masculine man
But I know what I am and I’m glad I’m a man
And so is Lola

Kinks guitarist Dave Davies initially responded on Twitter by saying he was “highly insulted that Moby would accuse my brother of being ‘unevolved’ or transphobic in any way.” He also shared a supportive, unreleased essay that the groundbreaking transgender artist Jayne County submitted for the 50th anniversary Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One box set in 2020, where she called “Lola” “one of those songs that for me ‘broke the ice,’ say to speak! A song that breaks down barriers and brings a used to be, hush, hush subject to the forefront and makes it sound perfectly natural to be a singing a song about a ‘girl’ named Lola!”

When we spoke to Dave Davies to hear more on the subject, he revealed that he just talked on the phone with his brother, Kinks frontman and Lola “songwriter” Ray Davies. “Ray said to me, ‘Who the fuck is Moby?‘” Dave Davies says. “I said, ‘He’s someone who does quite well. I don’t know anything about the guy.’”

After the chat, Davies sat down and listened to Moby’s 2000 hit “South Side” and some of his other songs to learn more about him. “I don’t like to criticize anybody,” Davies said. “But I didn’t particularly like his music. And I don’t like him because he’s throwing all this shit up about something that shouldn’t bother him. I don’t think we should make a fuss about it … I do love animals. I appreciate Moby’s work for animals. But he’s misinterpreting us, really.”

Davies also pointed out that Soft Cell frontman Marc Almond defended the song on Instagram. “Oh for God’s sake,” Almond wrote, “a brilliant, funny, affectionate, sweet and actually groundbreaking song telling a Soho story of a naive guy in the city, one of my all-time favorites. Chill out.”

Cito qualche passaggio:

As much as we’d like to believe otherwise, Sheeran and his ilk have souls. He’s real, like you or me.

To anyone who bothered to inspect the goods closely enough, this should have quickly become apparent. The lyrics sound like a stroke trying to write a self-portrait — “I don’t move as good as I used to. Sometimes it takes me a minute or two” — only they’re supposed to conjure up an edge-of-the-bar, smoky midnight feeling. If you’re not looking closely enough to care, this is exactly the pop music you deserve.

The world will be a fundamentally less embarrassing place when we accept defeat and give the machine total control. Eddie Dalton, then, is the true voice of his generation, and of every generation henceforth. All hail Eddie Dalton!
