…rather tragically, it’s another ‘confirmation’: this war can only be won through wholesale destruction of the VSRF. And that the way to that destruction leads solely through destruction of different of its units and then all the reinforcements sent to ‘hold the line’. Which is something that, pending Ukraine getting all the artillery shells it actually needs (instead of only about the quarter of what it needs) can only be done in unit-by-unit fashion…
Ukrainians meanwhile understand this, and are operating correspondingly.
My impression is that the mass of ‘collective West’ (especially NATO) still has no trace of clue about this… and thus, ‘hey, but this counteroffensive is a failure, there’s no advance for weeks’ etc… Quite on the contrary, I’m meanwhile receiving more queries about the Russian counteroffensive in the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kremina area, although it was clear, already a week ago, that this was
a) a colossal and costly failure, and
b) an attempt to distract Ukrainians from their own offensive operations…
