È un tattico a turni, su un ruleset consolidato, con un aspetto cosmetico entro i limiti della decenza.
Gli basta anche solo funzionare senza crash al desktop per essere già di base interessante.

The game is fully 3D, all environment assets, characters and even the worldmap are 3D graphics. You can rotate the camera (and zooming by some degree) while exploring dungeons or fighting in the turn-based combat. While you walk without any grid in exploration mode, the game automatically switches to a turn-based mode as soon as a combat starts.
And most important for us: you can see all items and equipment on your character in 3D.
Yes, the combat is turn-based but in contrast to ToEE it takes place on a hexagon grid. The exploration (moving through dungeons until the next combat takes place) and travelling over the worldmap is real-time without any kind of grid.

Yes, there is an epic main story and we don't have any kind of random content, every item and dungeon is designed by hand.
At this time, I can share following details about the character system:
Classes: Fighter, Warlord, Paladin, Cleric, Wizard, Rogue, Ranger, Warlock
Attributes: Strength (STR), Dexterity (DEX), Intelligence(INT), Wisdom (WIS), Constitution (CON), Charisma(CHA)
As you can see, our gameplay will be purest classical roleplaying from the time of the first computer RPGs. We have no intentions to create something new regarding the gameplay or regarding High Fantasy Worlds. Kung-Fu Pandarians (introduced WoW lately <- WTF) or other crackbrained "innovations" of modern MMORPGs will not be part of our game. D&D is our religion.
I can't tell any details about our previous project JA:BIA since it has been a work for hire production, but both projects are totally different in every way. Chaos Chronicles is our own project and the last years we worked hard (i.e. commercial games) to get a chance to realize it. JA:BIA has been initiated by a publisher who acquired a well known brand (Jagged Alliance). That's all I can say
You say the ruleset isn't D&D, but the classes you listed are the classic classes of D&D4e, especially the warlord and warlock, which are not present in Pathfinder or any other rpg. Why is this? If you are making your own rules, why copy D&D exactly? Why not have cool classes that D&D doesn't (in core anyway) like Dark Knight (aka Blackguard aka Anti paladin) with cool abilities, and stuff like that.
Note, that is not reinventing the wheel, you can still have your classic classes like Paladin and Fighter, just that these 'cool' classes will make your product stand out and attract more ppl, maybe get better reviews and increase sales while still providing the same tactical gameplay goodness.
We decided to take those classes because they cover the set of classes of traditional CRPGs very well. Since the player is fighting against evil hordes, there is no playable evil class like a BlackKnight/AntiPaladin available. No, we have Wizards and Warlocks with magical firepower and Fighters, Paladins and Rogues with advanced melee skills. The cleric will have few magical attack spells as well, but those are specialized on fighting undeads. Yes, you can use the default camera setup which works fine in most situations. But sometimes you maybe want to rotate the camera to get a better view, especially when it comes to ranged combat.I'm no D&D expert or anything remotely close, so take this question with a grain of salt... But was there any reason for going with your own D&D system, instead of going for Pathfinder's OGL which is free?
I guess the reason is very simple: we are not very familiar with Pathfinder, but with D&D and traditional CRPGs. And Pathfinder is inspired by the same roots, so I think the look&feel of the combat and character system in Chaos Chronicles will be similar.will you be using any kind of reputation system in respect to characters or factions?
Yes, just one example: the party can accomplish quests from the local townhall to clear Goblin camps nearby. After that, the citizens of that town become friendlier (which results in better prices and new city options) and the travelling in that region safer.
Regarding C&C: a very difficult element in Computer Games. Dragon Age and Mass Effect tried to make us believe the player has real C&C - but behind the scene he hadn't.
Our game will be a world game RPG; you will explore a forgotten realm and beside tactical challenges (yes, it will be TB and there is no discussion about that!) there will be many stories and secrets to discover.
Nonetheless, the player will have some moral decisions but those will not affect the destiny of the whole universe.
Our aim is to recreate a classical fantasy RPG and not to create a new kind of fantasy game within our own universe. We love Tolkien, D&D and CRPGs like Ultima, Phantasie, Wizardry and Pool of Radiance to name a few.
Today, there are already plenty of so called "innovative" fantasy games (mostly MMOs) with their own character systems, races, classes and imaginery worlds. But we stick to High Fantasy and beside Skyrim, Dragon Age (part one!) or Legend of Grimrock we couldn't really enjoy our affection in CRPGs lately (and even those games didn't offer the combat we would like to play in CRPGs).
Character alignment will not be as prominent as in pen&paper roleplaying sessions, because our focus definitely lies on world exploration and combat. But you will get varying responses from NPCs depending on your alignment that could result in different options.
Any plans to release an editor?
Also you mentioned the release date is somewhere in the 1st quarter 2013. When did you start working on this anyway?
We are preparing the game for being modded in future (by massively using LUA scripting), but the editor will not be part of the first release.
The idea was born back in 2008. The pre-production started January 2010 but after 6 months we ran out of cash and that's why we had to start another commercial project. Earlier this year we went on with Chaos Chronicles. So, in total we already spent about 14 months development on this project.By the way, HobGoblin42: How are you funding this?
Beside self-funding with money from commercial projects we did, we've got funded by a german film funding called FFFBayern. To successfully complete the project we also receive payments from our publisher bitcomposer who is going to distribute the game worldwide.
