un admin di Fastland (un server IRC interno a Fastweb) mi ha detto che è disposto a hostare un server mirror di quakenet all'interno della rete fastweb così tutti i problemi di ban del NAT scomparirebbero
ora devo mandare una mail a quakenet ([email protected] giusto? )spiegando per bene la situazione e propronendo il server mirror
chi mi da una mano a scrivere una mail fatta per bene? vi prego... DEVONO acconsentire e dobbiamo essere convincenti

I write this letter on the behalf of more than 300K Italian users, who connect to the Internet by Fastweb S.p.A. ISP.
As you may know, Fastweb network architecture is base on a huge NAT (network address translation – outbou M-1 dynamic / hidden): this means that lot of private internal IP addresses actually connect to the Internet by the same external IP address. When two or more Fastweb users belonging to the same geographical area (and so to the same external IP address) try to connect to Qnet IRC servers are often banned (g-lined):
“You are infected with a trojan, please clean your pc. (ID: fc0003ce)”
Our ISP operators often do contact you to ask to unban these collective IP addresses and they get this only after a while, even a week: quite a nuisance for us, the users.
Plainly this problem occur for other IRC servers as well. But there is a solution. Other big internet IRC networks have installed one of their server inside the Fastweb network, so that users connect to them using their private IPs: therefore if someone is banned, other people in the same area are not affected.
I’m in contact with an IRC network administrator (inside Fastweb) which would kindly accept to host a 24h 7d mirror server of Quakenet. He has a P4 3GHz, 1 GB ram and a *nix OS, along with symmetric 100Mbps and a trusted and expert staff.
Ti darei troppo una mano perchè sono nella stessa situazione, ma: l'inglese nn è il mio forte e tanto meno lo sono le mie conoscenze in informatica. Cmq..mandagli quella mail circa 200 volte al giorno e fammi(facci) sapere!!
Nel caso tu non l'abbia ancora fatto: quando parli di 300k utenti.. immagino tu parli di potenziali utenti.. dato che non credo che i netgamers fw siano così tanti..
per il resto tutto ok, chiederei se fossi in te quali possano essere pro e contro di questo mirroring sia per loro che per gli utenti che ne facciano utilizzo..
In effetti se dovesse funzionare sarebbe una gran figata, dato che quando ci si collegava su irc.tin.it non si avevano è g-lined.
Riprendendo invece il discorso del proxy, sono veramente dubbioso in merito.. non vedo perchè qualcuno debba regalarmi banda senza nulla in cambio non per essere disfattista.. ma nessuno da nulla senza nulla in cambio al giorno d'oggi...
