Details of the landing are coming in and there are two issues to be resolved. Paolo Ferri, Head of Mission Operations, European Space Agency, ESOC, has just confirmed that the Philae harpoons did fire but it is not known whether they are secure or not. If they have penetrated the surface, it is not yet clear how deeply they have embedded themselves.
Additionally, shortly after landing, the communications link to Rosetta began dropping and coming back on line. This continues at the present time. It should have been a steady signal.
At present there is no danger perceived to the lander’s mission.
“We have no reason to think it won’t work,” says Ferri, “but we have no understanding of why it is doing this.”
ESA and DLR technicians are working now to try to resolve these issues. In a few hours there will be an expected break in communications with the mission.

la cometa ha microgravità (infatti ci sono dei "sassi" che rimangono sulla superficie) però se non è ancorata non può trapanare il terreno altrimenti

comunque dicono che il lander (Philae ) sta bene (gr8=great?)
adesso cercherranno un modo (manuale) per arpionare il terreno.
(quindi ci metteranno ore e discuteranno ore (IMHO tutta la notte)
o probabilmente anche alcuni giorni per attuare una strategia)
se ci pensate voi non andreste molto cauti?

qualcuno mi prende il pezzetto di diretta intorno a 3:00:00 quando urla cazzo e lo mette su yt?
Oh, finalmente delle info. Allora hanno la conferma che sono stati sparati ma non il loro stato. Magari il terreno è molto diverso da quello che si aspettavano. Spero che non sia uno degli scenari di cui si parlava qualche settimana fa, ovvero che la superficie è molto soffice e si rischia di sprofondare.
Tutti i maggiori quotidiani hanno Rosetta come prima notizia tranne....
