No, c’era supporto anche nella base del partito, con centinaia di migliaia di nuovi membri, la base del partito era piu’ che raddoppiata. Il problema, di nuovo, era la dirigenza, a vari livelli, che era ed e’ rimasta in mano ai blairites, con i risultati che sappiamo. Non ci sono state proteste perche’ quei pochi membri di sinistra nella dirigenza sono stati espulsi, e ogni membro di partito che prova ad alzare la testa viene espulso o deselezionato - vedi la tizia che era in corsa contro Ian Duncan Smith e che poi ha provato come independente. Corbyn invece li ha lasciati fare, e ha ancora i coltelli piantati nella schiena come ringraziamento.

A major incident was declared after hundreds took to the streets leaving more than 50 officers injured including police dogs. Many were hurt by flying bricks with dozens of officers having to be led away from rioters to get treatment. One male officer appeared to have a head injury as he was driven for hospital treatment. A police riot van, mosque fencing, a pink car and a minimarket was looted during the violence, which has been met with widespread condemnation from locals.
Merseyside Police believe the protesters included supporters of the far right English Defence League, who are believed to have travelled to Southport from outside the area.
In a clip that has gone viral on social media, one woman stood in front of the rioters holding up a sign with a message of peace as bricks and other objects were being thrown, ignoring the jeers from the mostly male crowd. Her sign read: “One race - human, hope not hate, racism not welcome here.”
Her actions have been praised as “brave” and “courageous” online.
Trouble erupted around 8pm after social media reports a protest was being held outside a local mosque. Gangs of masked men started to appear on the streets before throwing bricks at a local mosque smashing their windows as people hid inside. Later several jumped on top of a police riot van before it was torched. Then followed hours of violence with waves of attacks on police front lines.
Several fires were started including what appeared to be an attempt to set fire to the mosque as burning bins and fence panelling erupted near the back entrance. Eventually after reinforcements arrived from Lancashire and elsewhere in the region the rioters were forced away from the mosque.
This morning the clear up was ongoing. The riot van has already been removed from the scene. One local said: “At least the bin men don’t have to empty the bins today - they’ve all been burnt.” Andy Southwood, 54,local businessman, said: “I didn’t sleep much last night. In half an hour it exploded. It was chaotic. Mainly young kids with masks. It looked organised to me. It’s crazy. It’s a massive stain on the town.”
But he pointed out locals were up through the night cleaning up. “Random people are coming out with shovels and spades to help clean up. That’s the true spirit of Southport," he added.
The violence followed the stabbings of Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, at the Taylor Swift-themed holiday club. Eight other children were also stabbed, with five children and two adults left in a critical condition. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, remains in custody accused of murder and attempted murder following the incident at the dance studio in Hart Street.
